(FYI - This is to continue to use Apple Profile Manager that comes as part of macOS Server, no other services are required. Please, Apple! The world needs the new server app that supports macOS Monterey, or access to the beta. I called and spoke with Apple Developer Support and the representative was unable to find a beta of the server app later than 5.11. That being said, all I really need is the ability to create user accounts and have the home folders and settings reside on the 8TB. This intermediate update was focused on 'important security updates'. I realize that Apple has deprecated services on MacOS Server. From there, you can create shares that map upon login but I do not believe roaming profiles is still supported due to the increased login times. macOS Server is an application you can add to macOS right from the Mac App Store. macOS 11.5.1 is an update to macOS 11 (Big Sur) that was released on Jby Apple Inc. In macOS Server 5.11.1, the Xsan configuration interface is hidden in new installations of macOS Server, but continues to work normally for upgrade installations. If you are trying to manage the later versions of macOS with Profile Manager, then you will need to upgrade the server to at least 5.11.1 (soon to be 5.12) on Big Sur. With the Xsan command-line management tools built into macOS Big Sur and later, you no longer need.
